The Full Story - Stories of Hope and Resilience

Our Stories

This page is dedicated to the voices of those who have been directly impacted by opioid rescue medications. Whether you’ve saved a life by administering it or someone used it to save yours, your story matters.

Overdoses ripple far beyond the individual—they affect families, friends, and communities. This is a space for those stories to be shared, heard, and honored. Together, we can amplify the power of hope, healing, and the lifesaving potential of opioid rescue medications.

"I had the opportunity to use naloxone several times, once at a music festival and once at a Wendy's bathroom downtown. I was grateful to be able to be there and have the narcan there to use. Luckily in both instances 911 responded quickly and both people were able to be taken to the hospital where I think they both recovered. For me although it was scary, I thought what if they died or what if I wasn't able to help. I realized I could be part of the response and actively chose not to be part of the possible negative outcome of just depending on the ambulance  an the person dying while we waited. That's why I carry the meds they save lives!"

"My brother used to be a heroin addict until he found Fentanyl a few years ago. Since then he has had several overdoses and was saved by the use of Narcan. I carry Narcan with me because until he is ready to stop using it for good. I have to be ready if he does overdose. The life I save maybe his."
